Will there be any extra charge if I cancel my car hire in Wellington?
EZU Car Rental's Wellington branch will not charge you anything extra for a cancellation. If possible, please contact us in advance to cancel your booking. We are happy to help you and are very flexible.
Can I change the date of my Wellington car hire?
Yes, you can make modifications to the date and times whenever you wish. However, please be aware that in peak seasons there may not be a car available for your new arrangements and there will be extra charges if you extend the booking. We suggest you try to make any changes as soon as you can to avoid disappointment.
How long can I rent a car in Wellington?
You can rent the vehicle for any length of time at EZU, but we recommend that you renew the contract and replace the vehicle every 6 months. The reason for this is to ensure your safety and serve you the best we can. The EZU car rental branch in Wellington will carry out a comprehensive inspection and do maintenance as required on your vehicle every 6 months, even if you do not change vehicles.
Can I use my overseas driving licence to hire a car in Wellington?
Yes, the EZU branch inWellington will accept any licence that is in English. If your driver's licence is not in English, you will need to bring the original driver's licence and an English translation or an International Driver's Permit for the rental service.
What documents do I need to bring to rent a car in Wellington?
You need to bring your driver's licence and a credit card, in your name, to hire a car.
Can I hire a car in Wellington if I am under 25 years of age?
Yes, EZU's Wellington branch accepts any driver from 21-years-of-age. However, young drivers between 21 and 25 years old will have to pay a young driver fee of $10 per day.
Can I apply for additional drivers to hire a car in Wellington?
Yes, the EZU Wellington branch is currently offering two additional drivers free of charge.
How can I purchase additional insurance to reduce excess on my hire when renting a car in Wellington?
You can purchase extra insurance at EZU's Wellington Branch. We will offer you three alternatives, one of which will bring the excess to zero (please see below).
How do I pay for the booking in Wellington?
You can PAY for your rental using either your VISA card, cash, or a debit card. However, you will need a credit card for security over the vehicle. If you chose to pay by credit card, a fee of 2% applies. Please also note that when you pick up your car, EZU Wellington Branch may ask you to pre-authorise NZ$1000 as a security deposit on your card, depending on the type of insurance you purchase.
